Bitspace, a Chicago makerspace combining a physical and digital curriculum for elementary, middle, and high school students opened its doors in June of 2006. Founded by Architect and Professor Thomas Kerns, I worked under his direction in the renovation of a 5000sf space. The project involved traditional construction work, woodworking, furniture design and fabrication and lighting fixture design and fabrication, digital drafting and modeling, as well as hand drafting, sketching and model building on site.
